Omnilux for Acne Treatment

Acne can be a frustrating, embarrassing, or even painful condition. Thankfully, there are several professional treatments that are highly effective in treating acne. One option for many patients is Omnilux, which is available at Kwan Dermatology in San Francisco.

What is Omnilux?

Omnilux is a device which is designed to treat acne using red and blue light. Omnilux treatment is noninvasive and can be completed quickly, leaving your skin clear and blemish-free after only a few treatment sessions.

How Does Omnilux work?

Blue light kills the bacteria which causes acne, while red light helps to reduce redness and inflammation. At the same time, the device decreases oil production and shrinks the size of the pores. In addition to the red and blue lights, Omnilux delivers a specialized Revive Light, which is intended to rejuvenate the skin and repair damaged cells, resulting in a more even tone and texture.

What is Omnilux Treatment Like?

During Omnilux treatment, the patient will be required to wear eye shields to protect their eyes from the bright light. Most patients should receive multiple treatment sessions. Typically, this consists of two sessions per week for four weeks, followed by one session every six weeks. Most patients see results after about three weeks of treatment.

Omnilux treatment is not painful and requires no downtime. During treatment, panels attached to the Omnilux device direct the specialized light to your skin. Each treatment session takes about 30-45 minutes.

Who Should Consider Omnilux?

Omnilux is an effective, noninvasive, and pain-free method of treating acne. However, it is not generally recommended for patients who are sensitive to light. In addition, some claustrophobic patients may feel uncomfortable during the procedure and should consider whether they may feel anxious or stressed due to the protective eye shields or light panels used in Omnilux treatment.

Dr. Kwan will evaluate your acne and determine its cause during a thorough consultation appointment. After evaluating your skin and overall health, he will then determine whether Omnilux is a suitable acne treatment for you.
